Graham and Maureen

Old Village Taverna, Skala

Some women are just SO lucky to have a man to do all the work for them !!! And that is exactly what Graham did for Maureen .... from the very first e-mail, almost 2 years before the wedding date, Graham was in charge of all of the details of this very special day that they both have waited for, for so long.

"We've been (to Kefalonia) a couple of times together, our first holiday abroad together was in Skala, Kefalonia in 2006. we literally fell in love with Kefalonia and Skala from that time..........

......We had been "seeing" each other for six years, but we have known each other for over 30 and used to go out as couples, with and without other friends. When our first mariages broke up after many years, we continued to see each other as friends. After a couple of visits following one of our mutual interests, football, our relationship went from strength to strength."

"We were engaged for about three and a half years

I asked Maureen to marry me in a Travelodge bedroom, accompanied by a bottle of champagne and a "moodring" from Hawkins Bazaar, during a Status Quo concert weekend in Brighton!"

Graham and Maureen decided to have their symbolic wedding ceremony at a local taverna that they loved and had gotten to know the owner of very well... so with a little help from My Greek Wedding Planners, we made their wish come true..... Maureen looked truly stunning when she showed up with her best friends to walk her down the aisle...... her dress was a metallic blue colour, strapless, full-length gown that she immediately decided on as soon as she tried it on....she chose it from the website

"If we had to choose a best bit, it would have to be the ceremony
with that wonderful priest as the celebrant. "

Pappa Kostas was really helpful and comforting to Graham and Maureen.. he guided them through the whole ceremony, which was conducted both in English and in Greek.

Joined by a small group of family and very close friends, some who travelled from very far away, it was imperative to Graham and Maureen that everything went off without a hitch .....and most importantly, that everyone enjoyed themselves...

"We were incredibly pleased and proud that they all said how much they had enjoyed our wedding day, the villas at Villa Brio and our week together in Skala. They said how relaxed the wedding day was and how they enjoyed the "uniqueness" of our ceremony in The Old Village. They also loved the entertainment provided by the Greek musicians and dancers, overall a very enjoyable and happy day for all

Graham, Maureen and their guests enjoyed a live greek band and local dancers for wonderful entertainment throughout the evening.... they even attempted a few greek steps themselves !!
