Gareth and Teresa

Dating for just under 2 years, Teresa was not expecting a wedding proposal like the one she got !!

" We went out for a meal and when we came home I wanted to relax in the bath after a long day at work...when I came downstairs (in my dressing gown and towel wrapped round my head!) Gareth led me into the front room and there were loads of tealights lit. I thought it looked romantic...but when I took a second look and realised he had written 'Marry me' with the tealights...I nearly died of shock! It was the 22nd December 2012-the day the Mayan calendar said the world was going to end...I'm glad it didn't! "

When deciding where to get married, Teresa thought.....

"We wanted somewhere that was beautiful so that we would have a lovely setting but also somewhere that our guests would enjoy their holiday too. Neither of us had been to Greece so we thought we could combine a holiday with a lovely setting for our wedding. Gareth was searching the internet and thought Kefalonia looked lovely...and I agreed! "

Being from a devout Irish catholic family, it was very important for Teresa to be married in a catholic church.  In Kefalonia, there is one catholic church .. in Argostoli, the capital, and here Father Cristian conducted a beautiful wedding mass for Teresa, Gareth and their families.

Teresa was able to choose her own prayers and hymns for the mass which made it all the more personal to her and Gareth.

After signing the marriage certificate, the newlyweds took a short trip to Fanari Lighthouse for photos, a very popular beauty spot overlooking Argostoli bay.

Afterwards, their private car took them to Andromeda Centre in Lourdas, where their private table awaited them under the pergola, with the most amazing views over the Ionian Sea.

A special message for their guests......

... and an antique box with postcards for everyone to write their own special message ...

After a filling delicious 3 course meal, DJ Thomas got everyone up dancing (and singing !!).  A private minibus took everyone home at the end of the evening, along with memories to last a lifetime :)

" Gareth and I would just like to extend our heartfelt thanks to Teresa & Kostas for helping to make our wedding day absolutely perfect! They arranged our mass and reception beautifully and as we only saw the reception venue after we had got married..we couldn't have asked for more! Everyone commented on how amazing the wedding was because of the informal laid back nature of everything. DJ Thomas was fantastic, he played everything we wanted to hear and even let my sister do her karaoke version of Vanilla Ice! I would recommend My Greek Wedding to anyone. "
