Sarita and Jonne

August 2016

We really love it when brides or grooms come to Kefalonia to get married because this is where their ancestors are from.  Such was the case for our groom Jonne, whose family are originally from the capital of Argostoli, and moved to Finland to start another life.

It was in Finland that Jonne met his future wife, and after 10 years of dating, he finally decided to make if official and to bring Sarita to Kefalonia to see the beautiful homeland of his father and grandfather.

It was a funny story how they got engaged....

"We got engaged by an accident. A newspaper interviewed couples randomly and they wanted to know about relationships. We told our story and the next thing we knew was that we were on the cover of the newspaper and it said we are engaged."

And so there was nothing left to do except to find a wedding planner in Kefalonia and get the ball rolling.

After months of e-mailing, Sarita told us exactly how she wanted her wedding to be, including a sunset beach ceremony followed by a night of greek music, dancing and greek traditional food.

Over 60 guests travelled all the way from Finland and Germany to witness this truly unique and traditional wedding with Sarita and Jonne... for sure they had never seen anything like it before.  A mandolin and guitar player serenaded Sarita to her waiting groom and also played some more traditional greek music after the ceremony whilst their guests sipped on chilled champagne and took some time to take in the amazing sunset.

A beautiful ceremony area was set up on a secluded beach, and just before the sun set, they were pronounced husband and wife.

Afterwards, everyone was shuttled by private luxury coach to Sirtaki Restaurant in Lassi, where their tables and dance floor were set up in pristine white .. from the table cloths, to the chair covers, flowers, candles and draping organza in the olive trees which added to the ambiance of the entire evening.

The whole wedding party danced around the tables to the fabulous sounds of the greek bouzouki.  Jonne's family made sure to show their guests how they really do it in Greece !!

In Sarita's own words....

"We had our wedding in Kefalonia on 27.8.2016 .. Our wedding was organized through My Greek Wedding Planners, by Teresa Fragiskatos.I found Teresa's website in January while I was looking for ways to organize our wedding in my husbands home island of Kefalonia. Teresa made an extremely good first impression because she was honest and straight forward from the beginning .... she gave us an example of the whole wedding procedure at a very decent price.
After that, we made up our minds and we choose Teresa to be our wedding organizer (which was not a hard decision at all) and we started to get into the details. Teresa asked me questions through email and What's App and if I didn't have an answer or idea (eg about the cake, decorations, timetable, flowers, menu, entertainment, even about my outfit) she made suggestions. Only thing me and my husband had to do was to pick. The actual day went just as we planned: we didn't have to worry about a thing! The ceremony was beautiful ... a sunset wedding by the Ionian Sea. The tavern Sirtaki (highly recommended!) was beautifully decorated with white theme and candles, just as we hoped. The food was amazing and the atmosphere outstanding. Teresa even helped my husband to organize a surprise accommodation for our wedding night. We highly recommend Teresa and My Greek Wedding from the bottom of our hearts!"
